Who I Am

The Artist

Tremain Farrar graduated from the University of Louisville in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2-D Studio. Through her drawings, Tremain has sought to depict the human figure as a vessel of psychological complexity in the setting of a tense theatrical narrative. Even in the most commonplace experiences of life, there are underlying emotions that aren't ostensibly apparent but undoubtedly resonant; this is why the human figure still attracts the attention of a contemporary artist.

Tremain continues to study the representational human form--most notably the female form--as a subject of self-reflection. Inspired by studies in biological anthropology, classic religious iconography, psychological theories, and neurological phenomena, Tremain previously used self-portraiture in a series of large drawings to illustrate a tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizure. As a result of being diagnosed with generalized idiopathic epilepsy, she likes to believe that her art has become inextricably linked with human psychological or neurological conditions.

The artist is currently residing in Savannah, Georgia. She is pursuing her Master of Fine Arts degree in Illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design.
